A new project manager has been appointed to oversee the continued progress of Aberdeen’s newest community, Countesswells.
Chartered civil engineer, Ryan Swan, will manage the on-going development of the £800 million town, as plans for its first bus service, new school and neighbourhood centre proceed with pace.
Responsible for overseeing the delivery of the growing 3,000-home community, which is set in extensive green spaces, parkland and high-quality landscaping, Ryan joins the Countesswells team with a diverse range of project management experience.
Ryan has over 12 years’ experience working in public and private development management gained with Balfour Beatty Investments, Robertson Construction Group and Fairhurst. Recent projects include the construction of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s £110m Emergency Care Centre on behalf of the NHS and the delivery of the new £535m Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) roads project.
The community is being taken forward by Countesswells Development Limited (CDL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Stewart Milne Group.

“In recent weeks we’ve handed over the region’s first community orchard to residents and later this month, we’ll be welcoming the number 44 bus service to the town. This is a fantastic and exciting time to be joining and I can’t wait to see things progress.”
The new community of Countesswells, which will have 3,000 new homes including 750 affordable, will be phased over 15 years, boosting the local economy and supporting 1,000 construction jobs in the region. Facilities within Countesswells will include a new primary school, due to completed in 2021, as well as a second primary school and academy, healthcare facilities and local business units encompassing retail and leisure. Paired with high quality open spaces, linking the community to the existing environmental resources at Countesswells and Hazlehead, offering an inspirational way of life.
